National sports delegation headed for 27th SEA Games

(VOV) -A grand ceremony was held in Hanoi on November 20 to send off a Vietnamese sports delegation for the 27th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Myanmar this December.

The 750-member delegation included 529 athletes from 29 teams led by Lam Quang Thanh, Deputy Head of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training.

More than 850 Vietnamese athletes and coaches attended 42 sports events in the previous SEA Games in Indonesia in 2011.

This year, local athletes will have no chance to show their potential in such events as wrestling, wushu, pencak silat, and shooting.

As scheduled, the Vietnamese delegation will fly to Myanmar on private flights on December 4, 9 and 14. The U23 national football squad will be the first one arriving in Nay Pyi Taw capital on December 4.
