National junior swimming and diving tournament kicks off
(VOV) -The 2013 National Junior Diving and Swimming Tournament opened in the central city of Danang on July 21.
This is a good opportunity for young swimmers and divers to hone their skills and compete for selection as the best athletes for the national squad.
The swimming event, running until July 25, drew 206 athletes from 23 sporting delegations which will compete for 106 sets of medals.
On the first day of swimming competition, HCM City took the lead with five gold, four silver and one bronze medals. It was followed by Hanoi with four gold, one silver and two bronze medals. Long An temporarily ranked third with three gold, five silver and three bronze medals.
The diving event attracted 116 divers from 17 delegations competing for 58 sets of medals over three days.
Hanoi was placed first in the diving medal tally with 12 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronzes. Quang Binh came second with 5 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals, followed by Thanh Hoa with 4 gold, 7 silver and one bronze.
