Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a project to build the National History Museum at the Huu Nghi (Friendship) Park in a new residential area near West Lake in Hanoi.

The museum, to be built from the merger of the Vietnam Revolutionary Museum and the Vietnam History Museum, will exhibit and introduce the national history, achievements in national construction and defence, culture and creativity of the community of ethnic Vietnamese groups. It will also provide information for researcher, as well as training museum experts.

The 10-ha museum is expected to have in-door and out-door areas and opened to public in 2012.
