In the category of celluloid feature film, “Dung Dot” (Don’t Burn), directed by Dang Nhat Minh, was awarded Vietnam’s prestigious Gold Lotus prize. The war movie features a female doctor and martyr who wrote the well-known Dang Thuy Tram diaries. The film also received a prize for the most vote from the press.
The best leading actress award went to Do Nguyen Lan Ha in the film “Trai Tim Be Bong” (Little, Tender Heart), while actor Dustin Nguyen and director Bui Thac Chuyen won prizes for their parts in the film “Choi Voi” (Adrift).
Other Gold Lotus prizes were given to the documentary film “Dat Lanh” (Cold Soil), directed by Nguyen Thuoc, the animated film, “Tho va Rua” (Rabbit and Tortoise), directed by Huynh Vinh Son, and “13 Ben Nuoc” (13 Shores), directed by Dang Thai Huyen, won an award for its technological achievements.
Seminars and activities to exchange ideas with students, workers and the armed forces were held during the event and highly appreciated by Vietnamese art lovers.
