The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology has organised different activities for children to mark the coming mid-autumn festival, which will falls on October 6.

In the past two days, children and their families have enjoyed not only seeing craftsmen from Hanoi and Ha Tay make paper and bamboo toys but also taking part in making toys for themselves.

Children have taken special interest in playing a game called Kia - No, a new game that was awarded a certificate of patent in the US, invented by Nguyen Van Thang, a Vietnamese American man, from the old philosophical concepts of the square green cake (chung cake) and round rice cake (day cake), of “clement weather, favourable terrain, united people”, and of the number nine – the “magic number” of the Vietnamese people.

Other games are invented to make children feel happy about the present-day life and also to encourage them to learn with a high sense of creativity.

These activities are considered a special gift to children on the occasion of the mid-autumn festival.
