The family of late professor Dang Nghiem Van, one of the most renowned ethnographers in Vietnam, will donate 6,000 rare works from his collections to the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in May.

The materials include books on ethnology, culture and history as well as human science magazines in Vietnamese and foreign languages, and the professor's research on the Central Highlands.

Family members said they decided to give the collection to the museum in order to preserve professor Van's writings so that future generations can make use of them in their own research.
