The minister made the statement at the launch of the “Vietnamese Film Week” in Maputo to celebrate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. 

He underlined the significance of the anniversary, describing it as a new landmark in the development of the two countries’ cooperative relations, which were lifted to a new height after the visit to Vietnam in January 2007 by Mozambican President Armando Emilio.

The minister also thanked the Vietnamese government for sending experts to assist his country in health care, education and agriculture in the past as well as Vietnam’s current supports for Mozambique’s Green Revolution. 

Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Dang Giang highlighted the traditional relations, friendship and solidarity between the two countries in the past struggles for national independence as well as in the present process of national construction and socio-economic development in each country. 

He noted that the Mozambican President’s visit to Vietnam and the visit to Mozambique in April 2008 by Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh created a new framework for comprehensive and equal partnership on the basis of mutual support between the two countries.

Vietnamese films to be screened during the week include “Don’t burn“ (Dung dot), “Moon at the bottom of the well” (Trang noi day gieng), “Men’s village” (Lang dan ong) and “Dancing girls” (Gai nhay).
