Various cultural activities are being held in Hanoi’s Old Quarters to mark the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on September 14 (the 15th day of eighth lunar month).

The activities include a lantern procession, a lion dance, folk games and art performances.

On September 5, the Old Quarters' Mid-Autumn Festival opened in Dong Xuan market and Hang Ma and Hang Luoc streets with more than 500 children and a large number of local people taking part.

During the festival, 15 kiosks along Hang Ma, Hang Luoc, Hang Dao streets are selling toys, moon cakes and other products to cater to the kids’ tastes.

An outdoor stage was put up in front of Dong Xuan market for evening concerts on September 6, 7 and 12. A number of folk games such as blind-man’s-buff and the tug-of-war will be held for children on September 13.

From September 10-14, an exhibition will be held at an ancient house No.87 Ma May street displaying images of the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. Artisans will instruct children how to make folk toys, green rice flakes and moon cakes.
