The Vietnamese men's team has held to a draw with India in the seventh round of the Asian Nations Chess Cup in China.

Le Quang Liem and Dao Thien Hai drew with Krishnan Sasikiran and Abhijeet Gupta in the first and fourth boards, while Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son defeated Pentala Harikrishna, in the second board.

However, Nguyen Van Huy was beaten by young grandmaster Parimarjan Negi, who won the 11th Asian Continental Chess Championships in Ho Chi Minh City last week, in the third board.

The team will next compete against Kazakhstan.

In the women's section, No 4 seeds Viet Nam lost to China 1, who now top the standings.

Only Nguyen Thi Mai Hung earned a win over Shen Yang in the third board, while Pham Le Thao Nguyen, Pham Bich Ngoc and Hoang Thi Nhu Y lost to their Chinese rivals.

They will meet Mongolia in the next round.
