The ancient royal city of Hue will host the 2012 National Marathon Championship on March 26.
The annual event is co-organized by the Vietnam Athletics Federation and Tien Phong newspaper.
It is expected to draw the participation of the country’s leading runners, including defending champions Pham Thi Binh (female) and Nguyen Van Long (male) in the 21km event. Southeast Asian winner Truong Thanh Hang will compete in the 5,000m event to warm up for international tournaments in which she will seek a berth at the London Olympics.
The organizers also encourage amateur runners in different categories for both men and women.
