Mai Phuong Thuy, 18, crowned Miss Vietnam 2006 at the Vinpearl Resort in Nha Trang, left for Poland on September 4 to attend the Miss World Contest.

After arriving in Warsaw, Thuy will visit the City of Gdansk on September 9 to take part in tree-planting activities along with other candidates under Miss World Garden Program.

Thuy’s luggage includes 50 suits and a 7 kg sand picture served as a Vietnamese souvenir which will be up for auction at the competition. Thuy has built up a basic knowledge of the history, culture and people of Poland.

The Miss World Competition will draw the participation of more than 100 beautiful women across the globe. They will travel around Poland, taking part in TV specials and sub-competitions such as Miss Sports and Miss Talents.
