The television series Ma Lang (Village Ghost) won the much sought after golden prize at the 2007 National Television Film Festival in northern Hai Phong port city from January 9-13.

The series, which centres around the daily lives of rural Vietnamese 20 years ago, appeared on Vietnam Television’s Channel 1 only a few months ago, captivating thousands of evening viewers across the nation.

Other long-running television series also received two golden and seven silver prizes at the festival.
There were approximately 742 entries from 78 television throughout the country.

A total of 44 gold medals, 102 silver medals and 192 certificates of merit were handed out to outstanding productions in 11 categories such as documentary, news report, children’s show, talk show, music show and game show.

The next festival will be held in the coastal city of Nha Trang in south centre Khanh Hoa province.
