More than 20 artisans from Ninh Hoa district, together with students at the Tourism Department of the College of Culture and Arts in central coastal Nha Trang City, on June 6, started to make the country’s longest spring roll (Nem).

This is one of eight attempts at Vietnam’s Guinness records that will be displayed during the Nha Trang Sea Festival.

To make the spring roll, which is 11 meters in length, 456 kilos in weight and 30cm in diameter, they will need 300 kilos of pork, 8 kilos of pigskin, 5 kilos of sugar, 3 kilos of pepper, 3 kilos of salt and tens of kilos of banana leaves and rope. Twenty artisans from the traditional spring roll making village in Ninh Hoa district chose fresh and tasty materials to make the spring roll.

In addition to promoting the traditional craft, the Ninh Hoa spring roll makers want to introduce domestic and foreign visitors to a special feature of their cultural cuisine.

Marc Fuocher, a French cuisine adviser, donated 700 euros to make the spring roll.

The spring roll will be shown publicly on June 11.
