Liem’s first draw at UK Chess Champs
(VOV) -On his winning streak Grandmaster Le Quang Liem was held to a draw by strong Russian rival Vitiugov Nikita in his sixth match at the Festival Tradewise Gibraltar 2013 on January 28.
Liem got the upper hand, but failed to progress after 86 moves.
However, he still dominates the tournament although two other players, have the same 5.5 points.
Liem is scheduled to face top seed Vassily Ivanchuk from Ukraine, whom he has never won in any of their previous encounters.
Liem was convincingly beaten for the second time at the 2012 ACP Golden Classic by Ivanchuk, who won the 2011 Capablanca title.
