Liem’s 8th straight draw at Spice Cup
(VOV) - Vietnam’s International GM Le Quang Liem and his Chinese rival Ding Liren shared 0.5 points each in their October 20 match at the Spice Cup 2012 tournament in the US.
After seven games ended in draw, Liem’s hope to improve his rankings faded after he had tied with the Chinese player after 34 moves.

At other two chess tables, Wesley So from the Philippines lost to Maxime Vachier -Lagrave from France, and Georg Meier from Germany was held to a draw by Csaba Balogh from Hungary.
With 8 straight games in draw, Liem has got four points, ranking third out of the six players, behind Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (5 points), and Ding Liren (4.5 points).
Liem will hold white pieces when taking on Csaba Balogh again in the next round, raising hopes of gaining one point.
Six players are taking part in the Spice Cup 2012 in St. Louis, the US, from October 12-21.
Liem is the defending champion of the tournament.
