Both Vietnamese Super Grandmasters, Le Quang Liem and Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, dropped one position in the latest World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings, which were announced on January 1.
Le Quang Liem, with an Elo of 2714, fell from 28th to 29th place, while Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son slipped from 83rd to 84th. Their Elo numbers remain the same as in November 2011.
Over the past two months, Liem attended the Intellectual Sports Festival in the Republic of Korea, however, it was not listed in the FIDE rankings.
Liem had a successful year in 2011, defending his titles at the Aeroflot Tournament and SPICE Cup and grabbing a silver medal at the Dortmund Super Grandmaster Chess tournament. He also won two gold medals in November at the 26th SEA Games held in Indonesia.
Liem will next compete at the Gibrantar Tournament in the UK from January 24 to February 2.
