The largest T'rung musical instrument of the ethnic minority people in the Central Highlands of Vietnam has been put on display at Da Lat Flower Park in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province.
The 10.5m-high, 8m-wide and 6m-long instrument consists of 46 bamboo stems tied together with four parallel cords. On its top are bird-chasing devices typical of ethnic Central Highlanders that are able to create fluting sounds.
The T'rung is a suspended bamboo xylophone, native to the Bana, Sedan, J'rai, Ede and other ethnic minority people in the Central Highlands. It has becomes a popular instrument in Vietnam because its sound imitates the sound of waterfalls.
