The Korean Research Association of Vietnam (KRAV) was officially set up in Hanoi on April 24 as a non-profit voluntary social and professional society for Vietnamese organizations and individuals interested in Korean studies.
Dr Mai Ngoc Chu from Hanoi University was elected President of the Association at its first congress the same day, which approved the orientations for its activities from 2011 to 2016.
In celebrating the 20th anniversary of Vietnam-Republic of Korea diplomatic relations, the KRAV will publish a ‘Korea Journal’, organize some conferences on Korea, and issue some publications on Korean studies.
The Republic of Korea Ambassador to Vietnam, Na Chan Ho, said he welcomed the inception of the KRAV and wished it would develop and contribute to boosting bilateral ties between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
