A painting exhibition themed “War and Peace through Children’s Eyes” is taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.
The event, jointly held by the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association, the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City and the Okinawa-Vietnam Friendship Association, introduced 49 works by children in Vietnam and Japan’s prefecture of Okinawa illustrating their love of peace.
Nine of them, painted by children from Okinawa, have won many awards at some competitions in Japan.
There is also a poem composed by Ueha ra Rin, a sixth grader at Yonahara School in Okinawa.
The event, which runs from July 2-16, will help domestic and international visitors to get a deeper insight into children’s dreams and aspirations for freedom, peace and what they think of school.
