Khmer ethnic minority people in the Mekong Delta jubilantly celebrated their traditional full-moon (Ok Om Bok) festival on November 5.

The festive atmosphere had been more ebullient in Tra Vinh province than in Soc Trang province with active participation from the Kinh and Chinese communities.

On November 4, more than 20,000 Khmer people from villages and hamlets in Tra Vinh converged along the Long Binh River to support the traditional boat race.

A trade and tourism fair opened in the province on November 5 to showcase products made by enterprises in Mekong delta provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.
Many cultural, sports and folk games were held during the festival.

Meanwhile, Khmer people in Soc Trang province organised its own boat race the same day.

Khmer people mainly live in Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Can Tho, Kien Giang and An Giang provinces.
