Junior Karate Tournament attracts nearly 500 athletes

(VOV) - The 2013 National Junior Karate Tournament opened at the Can Tho municipal gymnasium on July 30.

The event has attracted 490 martial artists from Karate clubs across the country who are competing for 54 sets of medals. They are divided into three age group categories of 14-15, 16-17 and 18-22.

The tournament expects to see tough competitions between the country’s Karate powerhouses such as Hanoi, HCM City, Danang, Can Tho, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Army.

Best young athletes will be selected for the national and international sport competitions.

The four-day event is co-hosted by the Vietnam Karate Federation and the Can Tho municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
