The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has signed a US$1.65 million contract with Japan’s Dentsu Company to sponsor Vietnam’s national football teams for one year from 2012-2013.
VFF president Nguyen Trong Hy signed the agreement during his working visit to Japan after Vietnam's U23 team returned home following their losses at the 26th SEA Games.
Hy said the sponsorship money will be used to finance local and overseas training for the national teams as well as to hold tournaments for them to gain more playing experience.
Including the Japanese sponsorship, the total budget for the national football teams in 2012 will be about VND20 billion (US$0.95 million).
Hy said the annual international tournaments held by the VFF will have a new format, which has not yet been revealed.
