Japan is willing to help Vietnam preserve the country's cultural heritage, said Secretary of State for Culture Aoki Tamotsu at a meeting in Tokyo with a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education.

He noted that Japan's policy places importance on cultural exchanges with Vietnam and cultural cooperation between the two countries is growing rapidly and strongly.

During their tour of Japan from August 1-5, the Vietnamese delegation met with officials of the Ministry of Culture, Science and Technology to discuss traditional culture preservation, the ties between culture and economic growth and the protection of UNESCO-recognised cultural heritage sites.

They also visited some well-known Japanese cultural relics during their stay.
