Japan has donated 20 handy cameras, worth VND250 million, to five junior secondary schools in the central coastal city of Nha Trang. After Hanoi, Nha Trang is the second locality in the country to receive camera equipment from Japan.

The donation ceremony was held at the Khanh Hoa provincial Department of Education and Training on May 11 in the presence of the Japanese consul general in Ho Chi Minh City Ikuo Mizuki and the vice consul general in charge of cultural affairs Tsubota Juri.

The donation is part of non-refundable cultural aid from the Japanese government.

The filming course for Vietnamese students will help students use handy cameras to record small films. The programme aims to encourage students to lead a healthy life, build their dreams, set goals and ambitions for the future life.

The first five schools to receive the handy cameras were Le Quy Don senior secondary school, Ly Tu Trong senior secondary school, Nguyen Van Troi senior secondary school, Thai Nguyen junior secondary school and Nguyen Hien junior secondary school.

The Khanh Hoa provincial Department of Education and Training has just launched a filming contest, themed “Life around us” for students in Nha Trang city. Each school will present two films made by its students. The best works will be entered into a national contest to select five works for the “Japan-Vietnam exchange” contest.

Earlier, students from these schools were trained on how to handle camera equipment.
