A concert of Italian music and Vietnamese dance will be held at the HCM City Conservatoire on October 19.

The Italian Night event will feature opera singers Thanh Nga, Pham Trang and Ta Minh Tam, who are viewed as some of the brightest stars of the city’s Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera.

Singer Thanh Nga will open with Ave Maria by Caccini and Caronome che ol mio cor from Verdi’s opera Rigoletto. Nga and her Korean colleague, Cho Hye Ryong, will sing Rossini’s Macska duet.

Tam and Trang will highlight a series of romantic works by Donizetti and Puccini, accompanied by the orchestra’s opera troupe.

After intermission, the second half of the show will feature a taste of Vietnamese contemporary music and dance.

Young choreographer Thanh Phuong will introduce his latest contemporary dance, Xin loi, Cam on va Xin loi (Sorry, Thank you, Sorry).

Phuong says his use of visual art will turn the stage into “an image-filled theatre that offers a breath of life.”

Ballet talents Quynh Nhu, Bao Trung and Kim Thoa will be featured during dance performances.

A graduate of the HCM City Dance School, Phuong spent four years improving her dance and choreographic skills at the Folkwang College of Arts in Germany.

Sorry, Thank you, Sorry is her third work after returning home early this year. Her previous works Bi and Shoes were a mix of Western and Eastern styles.

The show will open at 8pm on October 19 at the Music Conservatory’s Music Hall, 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1, HCM City. Tickets, ranging from VND60,000 to VND150,000, are available at the conservatory’s box office.
