A well-known piano duo from Israel, Sivan Silver & Gil Garburg, displayed at the Hanoi Opera House on January 27 with famous compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Franz Schubert and Franz Liszt.

This was the third time the two Israeli virtuosi had performed in Hanoi as part of their Asian tour. The performance was co-organized by the Israeli Embassy in Hanoi, the Goethe-Institute in Hanoi and the Hanoi Conservatoire.

In addition to their concert at the Opera House they gave a short master class for talented students at the Hanoi Conservatoire.

Famous for their “lyric sensitivity, extraordinary inner perception and overwhelming technical mastery” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung), the two artists have enjoyed a flourishing international career in 40 countries around the world. They founded their duo in 1997 and within a few years became one of the most remarkable piano-duos on the international stage, gaining enthusiastic acclaim by music audiences and critics.

Sivan Silver, born in Israel in 1976, and Gil Garburg, born in Israel in 1975, studied with Prof. Arie Vardi at the Rubin Music Academy in Tel-Aviv University and later at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater” in Hanover, Germany, where they have held teaching positions since 2001.

They have won first prize at more than a dozen national and international competitions, both as soloists and as a duo, and have performed with the most famous orchestras in Germany, Israel and Europe at the most prestigious music festivals around the world.
