The Irish Song and Dance performance has been co-organised by the Embassy of Ireland and the Vietnam Performing Arts Center to raise money for children with autism in Hanoi and people living with HIV-AIDS in HCMC.

The performance took place for the first time at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in HCMC on Sunday.

Audiences in Hanoi will have a chance to enjoy the beautiful show on Tuesday night at the Tuoi Tre (Youth) Theatre, 11 Ngo Thi Nham street.

The finest instrumentalists such as Mick Moloney, Athena Tergis, John Murphy and Frank Crocker will take the audiences on a journey of traditional Irish music thanks to their ability to play a variety of instruments.

According to folklorist Moloney, who in 1999 was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts, the ensemble will present a hugely varied repertoire ranging from traditional Irish tunes several hundred years old to beautiful music written by contemporary composers. Moloney will also perform songs in Gaelic and English. Songs from the Irish American experience forged by hundreds of years of colonization and emigration will also be played.
