More than 1.2 million people have been awarded the title “Good people and Good deeds”, and 16 million households have received the title “cultural family” since the “Entire people unite to build a cultural lifestyle in residential areas” movement launched ten years ago.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced this at a press briefing in Hanoi on February 16. The briefing introduced the national conference to review implementation of the “Entire people unite to build a cultural lifestyle in residential areas” movement over the past 10 years.

Accordingly, the national conference will take place at the Friendship Palace in Hanoi on February 24. Participants will assess the movement’s implementation in the 2000-2010 period, make orientations until 2015 and honour outstanding individuals, families and organisations who have made contributions to the movement over the past ten years.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Huynh Vinh Ai said it was a powerful movement launched from the central to grassroots levels to help people build their cultural lifestyle.

“The movement has increased public awareness of the increasing role of culture in promoting national development and ensuring sustainable economic growth. Through the movement, many campaigns were also held, including “Poverty reduction” and “Paying a debt of gratitude”, he said.
