An incense-offering ceremony to commemorate the Hung Kings was held on April 7 in a solemn and respectful atmosphere at Den Thuong (Upper Temple) in northern Phu Tho province.
This was one of the major events of the 2006 Hung Kings’ death anniversary programme, which focuses on activities to honour national culture, and encourage people to boost production and study in the lead up to the 10th National Party Congress.
The Hung Kings’ death anniversary is a chance for everyone to recall late President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings about the current generations’ obligations towards their national ancestors.
During the past five days, thousands of people from every corner of the country flocked to Phu Tho to enjoy the festive activities.
The same day, the Hung Kings’ death anniversary festival took place at Dam Sen Park in HCM City with a diverse large cultural activities such as an incense-offering ceremony, and drum and gong performances.
On April 6, the Phu Tho provincial People’s Committee and the management board of the Hung Kings Temple Relics received a reproduction of a Dong Son bronze drum from the Thanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee.
