Gerald Gorridge, a French painter, is currently exhibiting a collection of his work from the time he spent in Hue city. The paintings mainly feature the Huong River, the local landscape, Hue city and its people going about their daily lives.
He is now a lecturer at Angouleme University in France. After spending four months in Hue painting, he brought back 80 paintings to France so people there could see the beauty of Hue Royal Citadel, local people and especially the Huong River.
The French painter has visited Vietnam many times and has spent many years working with Vietnamese painters as part of a joint Vietnamese-French project to provide training courses.
He is also the founder and coordinator of a programme to record and publicise Vietnamese folk stories and comics, which has been rolling out since April, 2001.
