A bamboo musical instrument, named t’rung and unique to the Central Highlands, was put on show in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province, on April 8.

The huge t'rung, the biggest one in the Central Highlands, was made of 60 bamboo pipes at a cost of VND50 million.

T'rung, a suspended bamboo xylophone, is a popular musical instrument closely associated with the spiritual life of ethnic people in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The original instruments had simple structure with a series of bamboo pipes struck with small sticks.
