A French artist, Gerald Gorridge, has unveiled more than 80 paintings of the former imperial city of Hue in his home city of Paris.
His paintings depict views of the ancient capital of Hue from the famous Huong (Perfume) river, as well as night views of the poetic city and the glittering lights of Trang Tien bridge, and the simple daily lives of local residents.
Gorridge, a lecturer at the L’Ecole Superieure de L’Image d’Angouleme, is currently engaged in a project, sponsored by the French Culture Centre, to train Vietnamese students in the art of drawing cartoons. He has also produced 10 picture stories based in the capital city of Hanoi.
“I have been to Vietnam 17 times now, and each time I visit the country, it gives me new inspiration, which is then poured into my art,” he said.
