This year’s festival aims to preserve and develop traditional crafts such as porcelain and lacquer as well as celebrating the 110th anniversary of Truong Tien bridge and Dong Ba market.
Many activities will be held during the festival including exhibitions displaying antiques from collectors from Hanoi, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, Nam Dinh and Phu Yen, seminars, performances and an exchange programmme for blind children.
In addition, a programme to honour artists in the fields of Hue royal court music (nha nhac), and ceremonial song (Ca tru) as well as exhibitions of documentary photos and lacquer paintings will be held during the event.
The Vietnam Traditional Craft Fair 2009 and the sixth Vietnamese handicrafts contest will also be held. The Hue Traditional Craft festival is held every two years to coincide with the regular Hue festival.
