The beer festival is sponsored by the Carlsberg Group to the tune of US$150,000, under an agreement between Thua Thien-Hue province and the South East Asia Brewery Company.

In recent years, Denmark has run many programmes to support Thua Thien-Hue province, particularly the Hue Brewery Company, which is regarded as a successful model of investment.

The Hue Brewery Company has been operating since 1993 with its initial capacity to produce 3 million litres of beer per year. The company has now raised its annual output to 150 million litres.
