Visitors came from different countries with various cultures and languages, but they all shared the view that the imperial city of Hue is really beautiful and romantic and the Hue Festival is the most impressive they have ever attended.

Donna Yetrano and William Pryor from the US: It was wonderful

“It as wonderful. Vietnam made thorough preparations for the event, from programming to environmental sanitation. Bushes of flowers on both sides of the street were trimmed very carefully. The glittering opening ceremony impressed us most. We liked the dances by Vietnamese girls, who looked very graceful. We also liked your music as it left something strange in our minds. This is the third time we have visited Hue and this time it coincided with the annual festival. Hue looks even more beautiful these days.”

Chunz Chunz from Hong Kong said he was impressed with the enthusiastic Vietnamese volunteers

“One of the most impressive things in Hue is that volunteers are kind, enthusiastic and helpful. During the festival, there were many activities in difference places, and it was hard for me to join all the activities without the volunteers. Thanks to them, we know more about the cultural identities of Hue and Vietnam. I have travelled to many places in the world and even in my country, it is rare to find volunteers to welcome and offer help to visitors like here. I praise Thua Thien-Hue province for organising the festival. However, I hope that next time the organising board should have tentative programme schedules detailing the times, venues and activities to help visitors manage their time.”

Celene Genin from France said she was impressed with the royal beauty of Hue.

“I knew Hue through television, books and newspapers but this was my first visit to the city. I selected Hue because I know that Hue has been recognised by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site. I am satisfied with my choice because the scenery was very beautiful and the city was peaceful and romantic. I was very impressed by local girls wearing traditional long purple dresses strolling along the street. They looked very graceful. I feel as if Hue is a paradise where peace and romance reign.”

Mark Paterson from Scotland said he wanted to return to Hue next time.

“Those past days in Hue were the most wonderful days of my life. I attended various activities of the festival, such as the opening ceremony, the Royal Night programme, enjoyed folk games, local dishes and participated in rural market days. All these activities left very good impressions on me. I love this land and people. Hue people are very friendly and hospitable and this is the reason I want to return to Hue next time.”
