A cultural exchange between Vietnam’s UNESCO-recognised Hoi An city and Japan began in the central province of Quang Nam on August 21.

During the two-day event, various cultural activities will be carried out, including a photo exhibition featuring Hoi An ancient town recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, and a painting exhibition entitled “Colours of the Heritage Road”.

There will be a seminar on cultural heritage preservation and tourism development, an introduction of Japanese cuisine and performances of Japanese musical instruments and children’s games.

At the opening ceremony, Vietnamese and Japanese artists jointly performed lion and royal dances, attracting large crowds of spectators.

The event is being co-organised by the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Hoi An People’s Committee.
