Vietnam’s young tennis star, Nguyen Hoang Thien, leapt 54 notches to 67th position in the latest International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior world rankings announced early this week.
- Hoang Thien to compete at tennis tourney in Australia
- Thien fails in US junior tennis champs
- Hoang Thien wins Hong Kong open tennis tourney
This is the first time Thien has ranked among the world’s top 100. His current ranking was attributed to his recent achievements in international tournaments, including the 2011 Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships in the US and the Abierto Juvenil Mecxicano Tournament in Mexico.
With such a move, Thien automatically secured a berth at the Australian, French and US Grand Slam junior tournaments without having to compete in the qualifiers.
At present, the young Vietnamese star is preparing for an open tennis tourney and the Loy Yang Tralragon International Tournament in Australia later this month.
