Pop star Ho Quynh Huong will represent Vietnam when she sings at the closing ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Olympics Games, according to the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism.

She will perform two songs, in Vietnamese, English and Chinese, at the world’s biggest sporting event.

According to the pop star, three songs have been sent to the organisers for consideration. In particular, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam expects her to sing a famous Chinese song.

Each country participating at the event will choose one outstanding singer, who has achieved international fame, to be present at the special one-off performance. Ho Quynh Huong secured one of 22 golden cups at an international music festival in Pyongyang in 2004.
