There is a wide space in the Montreuil Museum of History for display of objects and documents on President Ho Chi Minh’s life in France. VOV reporter in France interviewed the Museum’s Director Gilbert Schoon about the space of honour.

Reporter: Could you give a brief outline of Ho Chi Minh Space in the Museum?

Mr. Gilbert Schoon
: There is a space in the museum for display of President Ho Chi Minh’s objects, including those he used in the House No 9, Villa Compoint.

Apart from collecting documents and objects related to President Ho Chi Minh, we have co-operated with the Vietnamese Embassy in France in preserving objects related to President Ho Chi Minh. Since the house was ruined, we have received many President Ho’s objects including door, basin, desk, documents, pens, books and his individual belongings. These objects are arranged in a logical order so that the visitors can imagine the President Ho’s workplace, and lifestyle. In addition, there are photos, documents, books, films and videos about President Ho’s life and work. Currently, we have posted all the documents on the Internet. In the future, we will collect more documents to help people further understand President Ho.

Reporter
: As far as I know, you once spent much time studying President Ho’s life and work, didn’t you?

Mr. Gilbert Schoon:
I am very fond of learning to know about Ho Chi Minh, his life and career. President Ho Chi Minh devoted his whole life to the Vietnamese nation. I admired him when I was very young. We always supported the just struggle of the Vietnamese people under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh. We joined many demonstrations in support of Vietnamese people in the fight against American aggressors in the hope that the Vietnamese nation would gain back will gain freedom and independence. We held aloft the portrait of Ho Chi Minh and shouted his name “Ho Chi Minh” during his demonstrations in Paris. Therefore, it greatly appealed to me to learn more about President Ho Chi Minh. Ho Chi Minh was a special man whose activities were always associated with the national liberation revolution. He led Vietnam to the glorious victory in August, 1945 and independence on September 2, 1945. Ho Chi Minh’s life and work was not only closely linked with the revolution for national liberation in Vietnam but also greatly affected oppressed nations in the world at that time.

Reporter: Previously getting involved in activities demanding for peace of Vietnamese people and now working at the museum displaying objects and documents related to President Ho Chi Minh, do you feel satisfied with your work?

Mr. Gilbert Schoon: I am very content with my work here which is really attractive to me. I have held deep sentiments towards the Vietnamese nation and President Ho Chi Minh. I have admired Vietnamese people for their dynamics, learning eagerness and tireless efforts. This was demonstrated through the glorious period of history under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by Ho Chi Minh. You have won outstanding achievements in the cause of national construction and defense. I am proud of preserving the precious objects at the museum.

Reporter: What do you think about the attractiveness of the Ho Chi Minh in the museum to visitors?

Mr. Gilbert Schoon: Every week, there are many visitors to the Ho Chi Minh space for seeing or learning about President Ho Chi Minh. This is the unique museum in France as well as in Europe, displaying objects and documents related to Ho Chi Minh, so researchers and historians often like to come here in order to get a better understanding about Ho Chi Minh. Many visitors feel deeply moved to see souvenirs of Ho Chi Minh- a renowned figure.

Reporter: Thank you very much.
