Many activities are taking place in Ho Chi Minh City to welcome the traditional Lunar New Year Festival (Tet), including Spring Flower Fair, flower procession festival, and Uncle Ho apricot garden. On show will be a pair of Tet cakes listed in the Vietnam Guinness Book for its record weight of 3.5 tonnes each.

A Spring Flower Fair which is open at Tao Dan Park from February 12 to 23, displays 7,000 items ranging from flowers, ornamental plants, fish and ceramic products to colourful butterflies.  

The fair has attracted artisans from the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Singapore. In addition to the flower and plant displaying areas, the cuisine area will introduce special foods from three regions.

A flower procession festival is held on Nguyen Hue and Le Loi Streets from February 15 to 19 by the Saigontourist Corporation to show special features of the traditional New Year festival (Tet) in Vietnam. There will be an “Uncle Ho apricot garden” in front of the Uncle Ho Statue and an area called “flowers of the earth – spring of the sky” to display many beautiful flowers from Da Lat.


In the main area “On the way to integration” many posters show Vietnam’s determination to integrate into the world.




A Tet cakes festival will take place along Le Loi boulevard on the second day of the lunar New Year and the event will be broadcast live on Ho Chi Minh City television. On show will be a pair of Tet cakes listed in the Vietnam Guinness Book for its record weight of 3.5 tonnes each. After the festival, the cakes will be cut to serve spectators.

A lantern festival called “World Wonders” will be held in the Botanical Garden, featuring Vietnam and world wonders, including Eiffel Tower, Piza Leaning Tower, Great Wall, Pyramid, Taj Mahal Temple, One-pillar Pagoda, and Ha Long Bay. The wonders will be made by Chinese and Singaporean artisans.

A Chinese-Vietnamese cultural festival will be held from February 28 to March 4, drawing the participation of Chinese Vietnamese people living in 26 provinces. The festival will introduce many cultural activities, such as gastronomy, dragon dances, traditional costume shows, folk games and traditional stage arts.
