A stone stele made under the Nguyen dynasty has been discovered recently by a family in Bach Hac ward, Viet Tri town in the northern province of Phu Tho.

It dates back 1818, the 17th year of King Gia Long’s reign, according to Han writings on its two faces.

The stele, found by the Nguyen Huu Dien family, is one of the five missing steles of the Dinh Hac (Hac communal house) in the locality.

It is 1.4 in high, 0.59 in wide, and 0.19 in thick.

The early Nguyen dynasty stele is a very valuable find in terms of science, history and especially fine arts, scientists said.

It is now on display at Tam Giang temple, in Bach Hac ward.
