Eleven Vietnamese, German and French hip-hoppers are to mix hip-hop dance with live traditional music in a show called the Faces, aiming to send messages about dreams, love and the role of youths in society.

Nine artists from three famous Vietnamese hip hop groups, Big Toe, Milky Way and Sacred Crew, will work under the leadership of creative gurus Sebastien Ramirez from France and Raphael Hillebrand from Germany for two weeks.

Vietnamese artists were selected by Ramirez and Hillebrand, who have performed in Berlin, Paris and Los Angeles.

The 50-minute show will see a series of emotive questions fired at the artists, like “In my life, what is my dream?”, “As a young woman, what is my role in society?”, “What is love?”.

Dirk Korell, the project coordinator, said “The show perfectly displays Asia-Europe cooperation and will be performed in Indonesia after Vietnam. We are also hoping that the project will take off in Europe, first in Germany.”

The show will take place in Hanoi on December 8-9 and in Ho Chi Minh City on December 11-12 before heading to Indonesia.
