A project seeking artists for a fusion of hip-hop, traditional and modern dance and folk music was launched this week in Hanoi.

The project is being led by the French Culture Centre (L’Espace) and the Goethe Institute in Hanoi, and was originally spurred by Sebastien Ramirez and Raphael HIllebrand’s love of Vietnam.

The two young artists will bring to Vietnamese audiences a unique contemporary art show with the help of Vietnamese dancers and musicians.

The contest seeking artists for the project will be held in Hanoi on September 11-13. Contestants must perform one extract from a dance item, or a freestyle dance and a short dance requested by the examiners.

Dancers and instrumentalists can register for the contest at the Goethe Institute,

56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc street
, or at L’espace,
24 Trang Tien Street, Hanoi
.

The winners will be trained from November 11 to December 7. Performances are scheduled to take place in Hanoi and HCM City in December and also expected to be staged in Jakarta, Indonesia.
