A representative of the Van Hien Company announced at a press conference in Hanoi on January 18 that it will organise a hip-hop festival in the northern region.

The large-scale festival, the first of its kind in Vietnam, will draw the participation of many famous bands in the country such as Chi-Chip-Hop, Cun Cun and Big Toe.

The event aims to create a common stage for hip-hop bands in the northern region, as well as create favourable conditions for them to exchange experiences and skills.

Head of the northern-based Big Toe band said hip-hop music has dominated the world music scene but it is not given due attention in Vietnam. The festival will not only create a play ground for hip-hop bands but also help them to become more professional and develop the art form into a mainstream music style in Vietnam.
