Ho Chi Minh City team dominated the 2012 National Vovinam Championships, which concluded in the south-central province of Binh Thuan on September 21.
The team took home 12 gold, one silver and eight bronze medals, while the athletes from Can Tho province in the Mekong Delta came in second with seven golds, five silvers and two bronzes. The military team ranked third with five gold, six silver and six bronze medals.
The week-long championships attracted nearly 350 traditional martial artists from 28 provinces and cities nationwide who competed for 42 sets of medal in demonstration and combat events.
The tourney aimed to select the best athletes to join the national team and help local martial artists hone their professional skills in preparation for regional and international events.
