The Nguyen Hue flower road to mark the Lunar New Year Festival will be open to the public from 28 December- 4 January of the lunar calendar.

The opening ceremony commenced with a cultural show of Trong Viet (Vietnamese Drums) at the Le Loi-Nguyen Hue crossroads.

The flower road is divided into 7 main sections featuring different themes including Hon Viet (Vietnamese Spirit), Tet Phuong Nam (New Year Festival in the South), Noi VongTay Lon (Join Hands), Vuon Len Tam Cao Moi (Rise to New Heights), Xuan An Vui (Happy New Year), Hoa Xuan Ca (Song of Spring Flowers), Vao Mua (Season’s Greetings) and Vuon Xuan (Spring Garden).

With its unique composition, the Nguyen Hue road has become a pride of Ho Chi Minh City.

This year the flower road stretches more than 800m and is decorated with numerous kinds of flowers from all the parts of the country.

The same day, another flower road, Hung Vuong, was launched in the southern province of Tien Giang.

The Hung Vuong flower road, entitled Unity-Renewal-Sustainable Development was organised in the city centre by the My Tho City People’s Committee as an entertainment area for the local people during the Lunar New Year Festival.

With a length of more than 500m, the flower road has 17 different scenes illustrating the province’s socio-economic achievements.

A number of cultural programmes are also scheduled to be held daily as part of the event.
