The city athletes clinched 19 gold, 17 silver and 30 bronze medals, helping Vietnam secure the third place at the Games.
The Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee, Hua Ngoc Thuan lauded the athletes’ contributions to the success of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the Games and said that the city will invest more in key sporting events and school sports to encourage new talents for the future.
Representatives from the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism conferred Labour Orders on chess players Le Quang Liem and Lam Minh Chau for their brilliant performance at the 26th SEA Games.
The Municipal People’s Committee granted certificates of merit to 56 individuals and rewards of VND45million for a gold medal, VND25 million for a silver and VND15 million for a bronze.
The city’s department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also presented certificates of merit to nine collectives and 108 individuals for their outstanding achievements at the SEA Games.
