Hanoi to showcase Tet culture at 2026 flower and OCOP festival

VOV.VN - The capital city of Hanoi will play host to an ornamental plant, OCOP (One Commune One Product) and regional specialties festival at the Astronomy Park in Duong Noi Ward, Hanoi, from February 5 to 11.

The event is to celebrate the success of the recent 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 96th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – 2026), and the coming Lunar New Year festival (Tet).

Spanning 7,000 square meters at the Astronomy Park, the festival themed "Tết Việt – Hồn cốt người Việt" (Vietnamese Tet – The Soul of the Vietnamese People) will vividly recreate the Tet festive atmosphere in order to welcome the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.

It will feature a traditional Northern-style house model, ancestral worship area, a central stage, and displays of peach blossoms, kumquat trees and ornamental plants.

A countryside-style fair with 100 booths will showcase OCOP products, regional specialties and Tet flowers, alongside craft demonstrations, calligraphy, folk toy-making, Dong Ho folk painting, traditional cake-wrapping, New Year rituals and a tea-tasting area.

In particular, the Vietnamese Tet space will re-enact rituals such as erecting the cây nêu (New Year bamboo pole), worshipping the Kitchen Gods, making Bánh Chưng (square sticky rice cake), and preparing the Tet feast.

Beyond a festive spring destination, the festival serves as a platform for trade promotion, product branding and business networking, contributing to rural economic development.

In addition, the organisers will coordinate with local authorities to carry out social welfare activities, including support for disadvantaged households and tributes to families with meritorious services in Duong Noi Ward.

Hanoi currently leads the country in the OCOP programme, with 3,463 certified products. The city has also developed 172 agricultural production–consumption linkage chains, an increase of 53% compared to the previous period, contributing to a more sustainable agricultural ecosystem.

In rural development, by the end of 2024, 100% of Hanoi’s localities met new-style rural standards, and over 60% of its communes achieved advanced or model new rural status, placing the capital among the country’s leading localities in both progress and quality.

Leveraging its rich craft heritage, Hanoi is home to 1,350 craft villages and villages with traditional crafts, including 337 recognised traditional craft villages and two members of the World Crafts Cities Network. The city is promoting eco-agriculture associated with tourism and cultural industries, turning OCOP products and regional specialties into ambassadors of Vietnamese culture and creativity.
