Hanoi will have a fireworks display on the eve of traditional Lunar New Year Festival (Tet), Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, vice chairman of the municipal People’s Committee has announced.

A wide range of activities will be held on the occasion such as cultural and sport events, music performances, a bonsai display, spring press festival, and a film week “Happy Nation- Party and New Year”.


The city will coordinate with relevant organisations to hold programmes at historic relics, including the Royal Citadel, the Temple of Literature (Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam) and Ngoc Son Temple and Lunar New Year Festivals at Ngoc Hoi (on the fourth day), Dong Da (on the fifth day), Co Loa-Dong Anh and Giong Temple in Soc Son (on the sixth day).


The committee has authorised the public security and army forces to devise measures to ensure social and political security and has coordinated with relevant agencies to check and strictly fine violations during cultural and service activities.
