Hanoi’s winter night of January 12 is expected to be warmed up with a Vietnam-US concert that will conjure up classic and folk music of the two countries.

The Hanoi Opera House will hear the last notes played by conductor Daniel Perkins and the PSU Band from the Music Department of the Plymouth University for Vietnamese audiences from December 31, 2007 to January 13, 2008.

The US conductor and his band will join musicians from the Vietnam Music, Dancing and Stage Theater on several pieces of Vietnamese folk music.

The US artists and a Vietnamese orchestra will jointly perform Gwyneth Walker’s famous composition “A Testament to Peace” that includes “Tell the Earth to Shake” and “The Tree of Peace.”

In addition, the US guests will play classic compositions written by J.S. Bach, Igor Stravinsky and John David Earnest.

Before coming to Hanoi, conductor Daniel Perkins and his 20-strong band had stopped over in the southern province of Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City and the former imperial city of Hue.
